The Executive Officers for AHYA
  Laura Killian - President
My name is Laura Killian. I am a 19 year old sophomore at Penn State University in Pennsylvania. I am studying Business with an Equine Science minor. I am the special events chair for Penn State's Intercollegiate Dressage Team and the Pennsylvania Equine Council's Youth Liaison. And most importantly, I am your new AHYA President! In my rare moments of free time, I enjoy dancing, twirling baton, doing judo, skiing, outdoor activities, working out and spending time with friends or family.

When I get to go home, I spend most of the time at the barn with my horses, Cocoa, Legacy, Solo, Ana and Shana. Cocoa was my first horse. I got her as a Christmas present in 3rd grade and she will be a member of my family forever. She taught me how to ride and drive and gave me the opportunity to show in 4H. After I outgrew Cocoa, I began to ride Kirashana+ on the Arabian circuit. She was so versatile! We competed in hunter pleasure, equitation, native costume, trail, sport horse under saddle, hunter hack, sport horse in-hand, halter, showmanship and dressage. Sadly, I lost Kira to Potomac horse fever in the summer of 2010 after a long struggle at New Bolton. I will always love and miss my first Arabian. However, I am fortunate enough to also own a 4 year old Andalusian/Arabian named MS Spanish Legacy++. She is extremely talented for her age and has a great personality. We are already competing in halter, showmanship, sport horse in hand, sport horse under saddle, show hack and 1st level dressage in USDF and AHA shows. My brother's 21 year old appaloosa, Solo, is also spending a few months at our family farm to get back in regular work before going to a therapeutic riding program. Ana is a beautiful black sport horse Arabian and the mother to my new foal, Shana. Ana will be staying with us until February to nurse Shana and be broke to ride. I am so excited to have a new baby in the barn! Shana is an Oldenburg/Arabian who will most likely excel in dressage but more importantly for now, she is a sweetheart and loves to cuddle.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions, questions or just want to get to know another Arabian lover. You can contact me at LZK125@psu.edu

  Marissa Jensen - Secretary
Howdy!

My name is Marissa Jensen aka Missy and I am ecstatic to be your new AHYA Secretary!

I live in Washington State in a rural farm town southeast of Seattle. I'm currently working on my Associates of Science degree in Veterinarian Technology and interested in majoring in Animal Science and English at BYU.

I've always had a love for anything and everything that involved horses. I wasn't introduced to Arabian Horses until the grand age of 11, and from that moment on I was forever changed. I've had the chance to own and love four incredible horses. The two amazing Arabians that I care for today are El Shekinah Gold+++/ and RA Kilohana. I feel so blessed for all the many wonderful trainers and examples that have come into my life, but I think I've learned the most from the greatest teachers of all, my horses.

I've shown in multiple disciplines over the years, Western Pleasure, Side Saddle, Western Horsemanship, Trail, Hunter Pleasure, Sport Horse Under Saddle and Sport Horse In-Hand.

My favorite discipline by far is Western Pleasure. If I had the opportunity to show in any other disciplines it would be English Pleasure, Reining, and Native Costume class. When I'm not in the show ring or working on college homework I love to read, write books/poems, pencil sketch, play sports, golf, swing dance, hang out with my family and friends, and above all help others through service.

Now that you know a little about me I would love to get to know a little more about you! Please feel free (and don't be shy!) to come up at horse shows and introduce yourself! Or you can email me! I'd love to hear your suggestions, thoughts, opinions, and ideas about AHYA. Without you we wouldn't have such a great organization, because you are the voice of it!

  Region 8 - Barbie Wittenberg
Hello there! My name is Barbie and I am thrilled to be the Region 8 Youth Director. I live in Lafayette Colorado and I'm in my senior year at Holy Family High School. Riding horses has always been my passion and I have participated in various styles of riding. However, when I was introduced to the Arabian world about five years ago I knew this was the place for me! It all started when I brought my purebred Amarilloo+// to Flatiron Springs. My enthusiasm for horses has only grown from there due to the support from everyone at my barn and of course my incredible trainer, Diane Underwood. Right now I am working hard on improving my hunter equitation and pleasure skills with my pride and joy, MV Aladdin Echo. I will be competing in hunter sidesaddle for the first time this year also which I am very excited about. The Arabian Horse Association has helped me grow and find so many new friends so I can't wait to make a positive difference in the AHYA program! I am positive this year will be my best yet and I can't wait to get started!
I am always open to comments, questions, advice, or just a friendly chat so feel free to e-mail me at luckylouie2200@aol.com mkaiser022@aol.com
