Youth Nationals – Just Around the Corner!

Hello AHYA!

I hope you guys are keeping up with everything as the show season kicks up and with school coming to a close. Many of you are probably very aware and anxiously awaiting Youth Nationals which is right around the corner! I just want to take a moment to remind you of upcoming deadlines and also about the events we will have available for you guys if you are attending the Youth Nationals!

June 1st - Creative Contest entries are due. The theme this year is "Arabians, a Sea of Possibilities". Winners of the contest will be featured at the Youth Convention and also on the website. This is a fun contest you don't want to miss out on! Also if you would like to be a delegate at the 2011 Youth Convention please contact your regional Youth Director. The deadline for delegate eligibility is June 1st and delegate packets are due June 25th.

This year's Convention theme is "AHYA Under the Sea". The Convention is July 22nd with General Session, committee meetings and a keynote speaker Mike Ferrara, Ferrara Photography. The Convention is a great way to meet other youth and to voice your opinions concerning some of AHYA's most active committees. We will also have fun games during the check-in time before the convention. We encourage you to come out to meet other kids competing and your AHYA Board of Directors.

After the Convention we will have several other activities for the youth to get involved and get to know each other. Some of the activities we will have are the Poker Run, Flying Pigs Fundraiser, dog races, dog costume class, ice cream social and more! A full list is available on the AHYA Events page which is under the Youth section of the AHA website. Getting involved these activities is a great way to make the most of your Youth Nationals experience and to meet other youth from all over the country who love Arabians!

Also, don't forget to bring out your old riding gear for the AHYA Annual Consignment Sale! A portion the money from the sales goes back to you and the rest goes to benefit Youth Programs. This one of our biggest fundraisers of the year so bring out the items you don't need any more and come by to shop for new ones!

We are so excited to have our members together at the Youth Nationals! Be sure to contact your Regional Youth Director to find out how to get involved with your region and to make the most of your experience! And as always we'd love to hear from you with comments, questions or suggestions
