AHA Launches Stallion Reports to Increase Registration
Stallion Reports are back! Effective in 2007, the AHA Registry has reinstituted stallion reports in an effort to acquire names of mares bred and aggressively encourage the registration of new foals.
The new rule requires owners of actively breeding purebred Arabian stallions to file a Stallion Report for every purebred Arabian mare bred by that stallion during the calendar year. (Half-Arabian, Anglo Arabian and non Arabian mares are optional.)
Since registrations have declined, AHA wants to assure that they can keep track of mares bred so they can market to those mare owners. Additionally, Stallion reports will reinforce the accuracy of registration records and give AHA a reasonable means of forecasting future registrations. AHA will also use the Stallion Report as a tool to remind owners when their stallions or broodmares do not have DNA on file.
The collective efforts of owners and AHA staff will help monitor growth as a breed more carefully and help direct marketing efforts more efficiently.
Stallion Reports for 2007 must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2007.
