I'm having problems installing DataSource 2000.
- Do you receive a message "Active X not safe?"
Open Internet Explorer. Using the 'View' option on the task bar, go to 'Internet Options.' Click on the 'Security' tab and change your security level from 'High' to either 'Medium' or 'Low.'
- Do you get the error message "Setup cannot start main program, create process. Error code 0x0000c1h." during installation?
Go through each of these steps, even if you don't find the specified files on your computer.
STEP 1: Click on the Windows 'Start' button and go to 'Find.' Search for a file called AB2K.cab. If you find the file, delete it.
During a normal setup, this file is placed in the Windows folder and then removed after a successful setup. However, if the installation program exits abnormally, the AB2K.cab file may be left on the system.
STEP 2: Within the Windows folder, look in the Temp folder (or folder specified by the Temp environment variable on Windows NT) for a subfolder named Msftqws.pdw. If found, delete the subfolder.
STEP 3: Search for the following files and delete them:
Windows files –
- \Windows\System\Vb6stkit.dll
- \Windows\St6unst.exe
- \\Windows\Setup1.exe
Windows NT files –
- \Winnt\System32\Vb6stkit.dll
- \Winnt\St6unst.exe
- \\Winnt\Setup1.exe
After you've gone through all three steps, insert DataSource 2000 Disc 1 and install.
I think the CD installed, but I'm still getting error messages.
- Do you get the error message "Run time error 339. Shdocvw.dll or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. File: ATT00000.html?"
If you get this message and you installed Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) from the DataSource 2000 CD-ROM, IE did not install properly. Go into your computer's Control Panel, click on 'Add/Remove Programs' and remove the IE program. Now re-install IE using the DataSource 2000 Disc 1.
If you got this message and did not install IE from the DataSource CD, please call the Association for help.
- Do you receive an error that says, "unexpected VB error char 71?"
This problem is caused when the Microsoft Data Access controls are not properly installed during the DataSource 2000 installation process.
STEP 1: Click here to download the MDAC executable file to fix this problem. Save the executable to your desktop.
STEP 2: Insert the DataSource 2000 Disc 1 into your CD-ROM drive. The disc will start automatically and then run into an error. Click 'Cancel.' Leave Disc 1 in the drive.
STEP 3: Double click on the MDAC executable icon on your desktop. At this point, the appropriate Microsoft Data Access controls will be copied to your desktop. It is possible that the Data Access problem occurred because it ran out of disk space on the computer. Therefore, you may be asked to clear up some disk space during the re-install.
The CD installs, but I'm having problems with...
- The male line in a printed pedigree always shows the gender as a stallion even if the horse is recorded as a gelding.
- The progeny count of a gelding or a yeld (spayed mare) always shows zero on a printed detail report even through the horse has produced registered progeny.
- I'm unable to see the Race and/or Show tabs on the Horse Details screen even though the monitor display is set to the recommended 1024 x 768.
These three problems can be fixed by downloading the AB2Kupdate file. Download the file by clicking here. Save the file to your desktop.
Double Click on the icon and it will open a WinZip window. Click on the 'Unzip' button and then click 'Close.' Your problem should be resolved.
If you installed the DataSource to a directory other than the default directory (C:\), call the Association for instructions on how to apply these changes.
