Purebred Registration
How Do I... Register my Foals conceived using transported/stored semen?
Following are step by step instructions to help you complete a Transported/Stored Semen Registration Application. Please note; if any of the information on the application is left blank it may delay the registration process. Please exercise care when completing your application, as incorrect information can result in rejection or cancellation of the registration.
A Transported/Stored Semen Registration Application must be submitted when the Semen used in breeding has been stored for any period of time and/or transported from one location to another. The stallion owner must have a permit issued by the Association to transport and store semen.
Check the boxes within the "instruction" area on the application, if you wish to order DNA kits for the sire or the dam. Remember, for foals born 2002 and after, DNA is required for both the sire and dam in order for the foal to be registered.
Section I: Dam Owner's Certificate

- Enter two name choices. If your first choice has been taken, we will use your second choice. If the second choice has been taken, we will send you a letter requesting a third choice. Names can be no longer than
21 characters (including spaces). No punctuation is allowed, with the exception of a hyphen (-). A hyphen will be counted as a space. There can be
no more than four parts to the name. For instance, "MY FAN-SEE GIRL TJ" would not be an acceptable name, because it is made up of five parts.
- Enter the month, day and year the foal was born.
- Check the appropriate box that describes the color of your foal. If you check the box labeled "Roan", please include photos with your application. If you would like to review our color descriptions,
- Check mare, stallion or gelding to indicate the sex of the foal. If this is a gelding, please enter the castration date as well.
- Enter the sire's registered name, registration number and color.
- Enter the dam's registered name, registration number and color.
- The recorded owner of the dam at the time of foaling will need to sign here. If the recorded owner of the dam at the time of foaling has placed on authorized signer on file with the Association, this authorized signer is also allowed to sign here. If you are purchasing this foal from the dam owner, you do not sign in this section. Only the dam owner or authorized agent is an acceptable signature. (Please note; if you were not the recorded owner of the dam at the time of foaling, and you are purchasing this foal, you will need a
Transfer for Eligible but Unregistered Foal Form or a bill of sale to be submitted with this application. There is an additional fee of $15.00 for this process)
- The last part of this section should be completed with the dam owner's telephone number, owner number and the date on which this section was signed.
Section II: Breeder's Insemination Certificate

- Enter the stallion's name and registration number first in this section.
- Enter the dam's name and registration number on the next line.
- Thirdly, enter the dates on which the mare was inseminated.
- The recorded owner of the dam at the time of insemination will need to sign here. If the recorded owner of the dam at the time of insemination has placed on authorized signer on file with the Association, this authorized signer is also allowed to sign here. However, if you or someone else is to be listed as breeder (instead of the owner of the dam at the time of insemination), you will need to submit an
Assignment of Breeder Designation Form, along with this application. If an Assignment of Breeder Designation form is submitted, the assigned breeder will then be required to sign in this section. There is an additional fee of $15.00 to process an Assignment of Breeder Designation form.
- The last part of this section should be completed with the dam owner's or assigned breeder's telephone number, owner number and the date on which this section was signed.
Section III: Markings
- The reverse side of the application provides a section to record the markings for your horse. Please draw any white markings present on the face and legs. The hoof color should also be indicated, as well as any brands, tattoos or body markings.
Be sure to look for pink skin and check the "pink skin" boxes if your horse is
grey.
Enclosure: A signed Transported/Stored Semen Service Certificate must accompany this Registration Application. It is the Dam Owner's responsibility to obtain a signed Transported/Stored Semen Service Certificate from the owner of the sire.
