How Do I...  Register My Foals imported in utero?

Foals imported in utero

If the dam of your foal was bred in a foreign country before being imported to the U.S. and the foal was born in the U.S., it would be considered an Import in Utero. An Import in Utero application should be completed.

In addition to our regular registration requirements, we will need a Covering Certificate issued by the foreign registry where the dam was bred. The Covering Certificate lists the stallion to which the mare was bred and on which dates the breeding occurred. Frequently, we receive the Covering Certificate at the time the dam is imported and registered. If this is the case, we will match up the Covering Certificate with the foal's application when it is received. If the Covering Certificate was not submitted with the dam's import paperwork, it will need to be submitted with the foal's application for registration.
