2006 AHA Annual
Convention

	Author, artist and historian Linda White presented a well attended "Pedigrees & Bloodlines Forum" preceding General Session in the afternoon.

Cindy Clinton, Van Jacobson and ____________ lead a new National Events/ Structure Task Force that works with national show commissioners to create commonality in all four AHA national horse shows: Youth Nationals, Canadian Nationals, Sport Horse Nationals and U.S. Nationals.

	Gary Zimmerman gave an aggressive, visually stimulating Executive Vice President Report at the beginning of General Session II. Shown here are presentation slides illustrating business philosophy (including the "Hedgehog Concept"), financial goals and retention, and the redesigned "Modern Arabian Horse."

Sr. Director of Marketing Dan Lawrence presents a quick powerpoint communicating information on a new 30-minute national network documentary on the history, form to function and human/horse bond characteristics of the Arabian horse. It was followed by an arousing 90 second documentary sneak peak. The final version will finalize January 19, 2007.

The Club Excellence Awards create rivalry competition each year, recognizing the most widespread creative efforts with the most marked results of over 200 AHA clubs in North America. Winners included:

	Breed Promotion Category: Calgary AHA

Club Projects Category: Rancho California AHA

	Communication Category: Spanish Arabian Horse Society

Membership Retention Category: AHA of Arizona

	Out of the four category winners, one is selected as "Best in Show." This year's Club of the Year is the Spanish Arabian Horse Society.

American Horse Council President James Hickey spoke to delegates about U.S. legislature pertaining to the horse industry, including immigration and livestock identification.

David O'Connor, multiple Olympic gold medalist and president of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), presented a USEF report on a variety of topics including the upcoming 2010 World Equestrian Games, breed affiliate information, and our common thread throughout the world of equestrian sports: the horse.


Delegates write their vote,

	Cast their ballot,

and are collected by Convention appointed ballot officials for counting.
