General Session III on Saturday morning began by Regions 13 and 14 welcoming delegates to the 2006 AHA Convention in Louisville, KY with a “Horse Race” down the auditorium center aisle. This horse may have lost its way.

Guest speaker James Hickey, president of the American Horse Council, gave a short presentation on the current state of the horse industry in the United States, with statistics from a recent comprehensive survey on horse ownership and activity in America.
Arabian Jockey Club President Hamp Johnson gave a racing update to Convention delegates.

The pot is a big one—nearly $5 million was paid out in Arabian racing in 2004. There is money to be had by all, as Hamp introduced the updated “Introduction to Arabian Racing” video available for free on www.ArabianRacing.org.
Votes are counted as resolutions wrap up the 2005 AHA Annual Convention.

Myron Krause presents the prestigious President’s Award to Larry Kinneer and Cindy Clinton, both of Region 14, for their tireless volunteer work to the Arabian Horse Association and Arabian horse community
Cynthia Richardson of Region 8 was awarded the 2005 Directors Award, voted upon by the AHA Board of Directors.
