Genetic Diseases
The AHA Equine Stress, Research and Education Committee has developed this special section on genetic diseases of particular concern to the Arabian breed. Its goal is to educate the Arabian horse community and to encourage support for research focused on identifying the genetic roots of these diseases, so appropriate tests can be developed.
In an effort to help support research efforts, the Arabian Horse Foundation was officially launched in November 2007 at the AHA Convention. This new 501 (c) (3) will focus on several areas of funding, including equine research with a focus on diseases and illnesses that affect the Arabian breed. In May 2008, the Foundation named a Research Advisory Panel to assist the Foundation in prioritizing research projects for potential funding.
