Pulled from Retirement

Nineteen year old Pelar+// was probably focusing on nothing more than the next meal when he was abruptly pulled from retirement six weeks ago to get in condition for a trip to Louisville and competing in the Arabian Western Pleasure AAOTR 18-35.
"We had retied him almost two years ago but the horse I was planning to bring had an injury," said owner Jessica Sanders.
"The mare was in the pasture six weeks ago," said her mother. 'She was supposed to be retired. We cut her tail off and sent her out, but Jessica really wanted to compete in Louisville this year."
The plucky Pelar+// has taken Jessica to two reserve championships and two top tens since the two have been competing, beginning in 13 and Under classes. Maybe now Pelar+// will to retire for good.

Where the Greats Have Shown

Larry Kinneer

"I had shown in Broadbent before but never Freedom Hall. When you go down the tunnel, there's an electric feeling, all the shouting and yelling, it's incredible," says Region 14 Director Larry Kineer. That sentiment is echoed by everyone who's fortunate enough to show in Freedom Hall.

Chris Bickford

"I won several national championships here," says Oregon trainer Chris Bickford.

Certainly by Saturday night, more than one pair of eyes will well up with tears as people celebrate a final farewell to Louisville and the place where legends were made.

View from the Patrons Lounge

The Freedom Hall skyboxes are the luxurious way to watch the U.S. Nationals where you can sip a drink, nibble on hors d'oeuvres, chat with friends and watch the best horses in the world. While a variety of barns rent their own individual skyboxes, every patron is welcome at the Patrons lounge.

Shopping Expo

The commercial exhibits are all located in South Wing A this year, and it's an easy walk from Freedom Hall. Art, clothing, equine products and more await visitors in between sessions.
