Cheryl Smith-Ehrlick

Cheryl Smith-Ehrlick of Ontario, Canada has could be considered part of the infrastructure of Sport Horse as we know it today. "I was on the original committee to develop the idea of Sport Horse Nationals and was later appointed to the Show Commission," says Cheryl. Today, Cheryl is the Vice-Chair of the Sport Horse National Show Commission. Though that is her official title at the show, she wears many hats.

She can usually be found at the hunter/jumper in-gate as coordinator of the ring. "I am also a professional hunter/jumper trainer and we do some dressage as well. We brought about a dozen horses to the show," she says. While she coordinates the hunter/jumper classes, she is also busy coaching her students.

She sees many successes ringside; however, her biggest find this year was a little kitten rightfully named Sam. "We found him in the parking lot of Sam's Road Kill Café on Sunday. He came right up to us so we took him in. He already sleeps on the bed!" Cheryl immediately housed the purring kitten on grounds and got him vetted for the trip back to Canada to join the rest of her four-legged family.

We thank Cheryl for her hard work and dedication that made this show and wish her the best of luck with Sam.
