Sport Horse Nationals

Around The Grounds

September 25, 2009

Randy Reid, a long-time dedicated volunteer and familiar face at many AHA shows, directs Show Commission Chair Bill Pennington to a stall location.

Official show farrier Dale Jackson has eager assistants waiting by as he replaces the front shoes on a competitor's horse.

The wash racks are busy at this show with all of the mud.

Exhibitors grazing their horses is a common site at this year's Sport Horse with the lush grass at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Though golf carts may be the main mode of transport around the Park, bicycles are right up there.

Siraj Amir Moniet waits patiently as his "people" watch another competitor's dressage ride before being saddled to head back to the stalls.

Judges and their scribes are a pivotal part of the show. Shown here are judges of the Half-Arabian Sport Horse Mares In-Hand, Carol Dean - Porter and Debbie Riehl - Rodriguez each with their scribes.

Some of the young competitors on grounds rushed over to show support to a friend in the ring from the stands.

Rusty Cook and Lorraine Rowland are busy working to compile dressage scores.

Lunging in the mud is necessary at such a rainy show.
