Several kids from the area visited KHP for a special Black Stallion Literacy Project event near the Pavilion on Thursday afternoon. They were able to bring their books and meet a black stallion, Beau Bridges (owned by Erin Naas, presented by Clare Morrow) up close.

Throughout the week, you can see dogs of all breeds and sizes. Australian Shepherds seem to be a popular companion breed this year.




Crista Lambert heads out for a cruise in the rain with a friend and TTC Thatsafakt Jack +/, following her qualification to the next round in the Carriage Driving Pleasure Working, Section A.



This year's commercial exhibitors show off their wares on the concourse of the new indoor arena.


The 2009 Sport Horse Nationals also marked the 7th Annual Progressive Barn Party. Exhibitors, family and friends started their barn tours at the AHA tables with wine and cheese for the adults and punch for the younger crowd.






The Arabian Horse Youth Association had a table set up for punch and Raffle ticket sales for the 50/50 youth fundraiser. Katie Pelphrey, new AHYA Vice President, spearheaded the fundraiser and the youth table.



Some smaller partiers had hopeful eyes on the hors d'oeuvres.




Over a dozen barns participated to the excitement of the attendees.

The barns had a large array of hors d'oeuvres, full meals, desserts, cocktails and more.


Owners were sure not to leave their four-legged friends out of the fun.
