Surprise Reserve Win by 14 Year Old in Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian Sport Horse Under Saddle

Marie Arias-Stein and Ace of Spades

While it's not surprising that multi-champion Soleya++++// would take a championship in the class, it is news that high school sophomore, 14 year old Marie Arias-Stein from Anthem, Arizona, would take her Anglo-Arabian Ace of Spades against an exceptional field of esteemed horses and riders and outshine almost all of them.

"It was my first national win," said Marie between tears back at the stalls of her trainer, Ahna Bowman. The amazing part was the gelding had already competed in 8 classes, taking top tens in gelding in hand (open and ATR), working hunter, hunt seat equitation and Sport Horse Under Saddle ATR before finding the "reserve" energy to deliver a reserve championship on the final day of the show.
